It Shouldn't Be Painful to Be Effective

There is a common misconception that good massages have to be painful in order for them to be effective. This could not be further from the truth! In fact, good massages should not be painful at all. if your massage therapist is causing you pain, it's likely that they're not properly trained.

Here are a few reasons why your massage might be causing you pain:

1. The Massage Therapist Is Applying Too Much Pressure

One of the most common reasons for post-massage pain is that the therapist applied too much pressure. While it's important for the therapist to apply enough pressure to loosen your muscles, going too deep can actually do more harm than good. If you're feeling pain during or after your massage, let your therapist know so they can adjust their pressure accordingly.

2. You Have an Undiagnosed Injury

Another possible reason why you might be experiencing pain during or after your massage is because you have an undiagnosed injury. It's not uncommon for people to push through pain on a daily basis without realizing that they've actually injured themselves. If you suspect that you might have an injury, it's important to see a doctor before book a massage so they can properly diagnose and treat the problem.

3. The Massage strokes are too forceful

In addition to applying too much pressure, some therapists might also use strokes that are too forceful. This can cause bruising and other injuries, so it's important to communicate with your therapist about the level of pressure you're comfortable with. If you start to feel pain during your massage, don't hesitate to speak up!

Just because massages are meant to relieve pain doesn't mean that they should cause pain. If you're experiencing discomfort during or after your massage, there could be several different reasons why.
